MEMBER: CHARMING CHARMANT

Daihatsu is a well-known carmaker from Japan and they are really success in term of compact cars or k-car (a Japanese category of small automobiles). When it comes to Daihatsu, a small and economic car best describes it. In contrast with this sedan, boxy shape, long wheelbase, and FR layout (Front engine Rear drive) it is a good attempt by Daihatsu to come out with their second generation Charmant in 1981.

Salute. That's all I can say to the owner, who is also an old friend of mine since high school. When every oldskool enthusiast out there is looking for ordinary (Celica, Sunny, Fairlady, & Corolla) platform as restoration project, he chose to stick with this inherited Charmant.

Totally sleeper. This is a good recipe to keep RTD (JPJ) officer out of your way. Only Enkei Compe, wrapped up with Kumho tires, hints the hidden power under the hood. Notice the original mudflap and door lining bearing 'Charmant', which I believe are rare among Charmant lovers.

Yes, another forgotten hero with some potentials. It is now powered by a 16-valves twincam engine, generating enough horsies to bring a big smile to the owner.

Every single parts are well-preserved. Exteriors are kept stock, except for the Non-Daihatsu KE70 DX fender mirror. FYI, Daihatsu shared some technologies with Toyota in successing Charmant, so I think it is cool to interchange some Toyota parts, and engine perhaps?

See you guys again with another heart-pumping 4 door oldskools. Ciao!
